Why take this course?

This course provides the qualification required to enable you to apply for an SIA Door Supervisor licence. Those holding a door supervisor licence can work in a number of related roles within the security sector. The SIA are responsible for licencing and they regulate the Security Sector under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 and this qualification provides the full coverage of competencies specified by the SIA.

It is also an ideal qualification for those who have other commitments and would like to work part time.

This is an intensive 5 day course and all attendees are required to have completed up to 9 hours of pre course study prior to attending.

NOCN Level 2 Award in Door Supervision

Eligibility

Those attending this course should be numerate and literate to at least Level 2 (proof of either GCSE Math & English or Level 2 Numeracy and Literacy qualifications may be requested) and be fit and able to complete physical exercises during role play activities.

Please note that anyone with criminal convictions can attend this course however they may not be able to obtain a licence from the SIA. It is the responsibility of each attendee to ensure that you can meet the licence criteria. More information on the criteria can be found here

All exam fees must be paid either at the time of booking or as soon as possible after booking. Exam fees are set by the awarding body.

Course Content

This course consists of 4 Units of study.

The first unit is completed by distance learning and must be done prior to attending the course. Full details will be provided within the Joining Instructions on how to complete this unit

1 Working within the Private Security Industry 

The following units of study are delivered within the classroom, by theory based lessons, practical demonstrations and role play activities.

2 Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry

3 Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry

4 Physical Intervention Skills within the Private Security Industry. Attendees should be prepared to act in role play scenarios whereby physical activity will be involved

This course is assessed by examination through a combination of written and multiple choice questions, set over 4 exams lasting 40-60 minutes each during the final day of the course.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be provided with the NOCN Level 2 Award in Door Supervision which you can then use as evidence to apply for an SIA Door Supervisors Licence.
