If you have an interest in business process management and improvement and would like to pursue a career as a Quality Management Systems auditor then this course is ideal for your needs. Gain an understanding of the processes that enable an organisation to achieve and maintain ISO 9001, along with how to lead an auditing team and carry out complex supplier audits.
Is this the right course for me?
Although there are no prerequisites for anyone wishing to attend this course, it would be an advantage if you have previous knowledge of quality systems or auditing.

Eligibility
There are no pre-requisites for this course but some exposure to quality systems/auditing would be an advantage.
Students often under estimate the demands of such a course. Course members will be required to commit themselves to a period of intensive study.
Course Content
During this 5 day course you will learn how to plan, conduct, report and follow up the results of audits. The course will enable you to understand the important relationships between auditing, operational efficiency and improvement planning.
Attendees will be introduced to a range of different auditing systems and will be instructed to apply the right skills to the right context. This includes audits of internal procedures, audits to establish conformance to external standards and customer requirements, procedural and process audits and full systems audits including businesses with multiple sites.
Attendees will gain an understanding of the ‘Lead Auditor’ role and responsibilities and how this differs from an auditor team member.
The course will cover the following areas:
- Audit planning and preparation
- Audit performance – conducting interviews, following document trails, process and procedural auditing
- Audit reporting and feedback techniques
- How to lead an audit team
Attendees will be trained in the following:
- Principles of Quality Management
- ‘Plan, Do, Check, Act’ Methodology
- The ISO 9000 series and ISO 9001 requirements
EXAM INFORMATION
The Lead Auditor exam is 1 hour 40 minutes and will take place AFTER the course at any point within 30 days. An extra 30 mins is provided for those who have submitted evidence of dyslexia, or where English is not your first language.
You will be provided with a Unique Learner ID from CQI during the course and this will give you access to the online portal which has practice exam questions and a link to complete the actual exam.
You will require access to a laptop or PC with a webcam and microphone, which will allow access to EasyProctor to complete your exam.
The exam will be open book and questions will be a mix of multiple choice, multiple response, fill in the blanks, matching items and sequencing responses in the correct order.
The last 2 exam sections will include scenario questions relating to conducting, reporting on and closing out audits. You will be asked to evaluate the scenario presented to you and select the correct course of action.
Results will be available within one month and those successful will be sent Certificates through CTP within 6 weeks of course completion.

Career Opportunities
Those who successfully complete this course (including an exam mark of 50% or over) could go on to work in a quality management or auditor role.This course satisfies the training requirements for those wishing to register to the IRCA’s QMS Auditor Scheme. Membership of the IRCA would be recognised worldwide.
Attendees who successfully pass the course have access to apply to the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) at Practitioner (PCQI) Grade
